Following on from lifegroup...
I visited a new lifegroup this evening (Mel was babysitting, so it will be her turn next week) and we had a very interesting discussion about the resurrection of Christ. One of the questions that was raised was about our security in our relationship with Christ. This lead to some interesting points being made.
All the while I am thinking about what makes us so shy of our faith in the western cultures. After reading Adam's blog this evening (Pomomusings), Cornel West's comment makes a bit of sense or gives me more to think about, "To be a Christian is to live dangerously, honestly, freely - to step in the name of love as if you may land on nothing, yet to keep stepping because the something that sustains you no empire can give you and no empire can take away. This is the kind of vision and courage required to enable the renewal of prophetic, democratic Christian identity in the age of the American empire."
I wish I could live more dangerously, honestly and freely.

Back to the grindstone
Arrived back from Cambridge with the extended family in tow. The wedding was successful (Nico and Fi both said I do!) and they are now off for 2 weeks. Pictures of the big day can be seen on schonken.com.
For me I have a number of coursework projects to mark before we return to school next week Tuesday. They should keep me busy for a while yet.

Off to Cambridge
Well the time has arrived for Nico to get married. The big day is tomorrow in Cambridge. It means that we have to travel across country from Oxford to Cambridge, which is no mean feat in the UK. All the motorways seem to run North / South and very few East / West. Oh well, a couple of hours in the car with youngsters will be worth it once that first beer goes down after the wedding rehearsal. We shall be posting some photos of the event on schonken.com and I am sure Nico will give a run down of the proceedings on nicoschonken.com.
Spring has sprung and we had fun
It was so good to have warmer weather yesterday. It feels that spring has arrived in North Oxfordshire. Ben, Anna and I spent the afternoon in the garden, raking leaves, picking up sticks, eating mud (sorry that was just Anna) and mowing the lawn. While all of this was happening I also lit the fire for a lekker braai. It really felt that spring had arrived. Will it last?
